On the cusp of transformation from small town to urban destination, the Town of Marana is optimally located as a core destination on the Arizona Sun corridor that links Arizona’s largest metropolitan areas – Phoenix and Tucson – via Interstate 10. The Shops at Tangerine, located at the intersection of Tangerine Road and I-10, will serve a trade area characterized by affluent, suburban lifestyles and destination resorts. The upscale Dove Mountain master-planned community in Marana includes 9 square miles of exquisite landscape, designer golf courses, and innovative and detailed floor plans and will be a stop on the 2008 PGA Tour. Already considered one of the world’s top destinations for resorts and spas, the world’s largest and most opulent Ritz-Carlton is planned for Dove Mountain. In addition to the high-quality homes and amenities, the area’s rich arts and cultural community complements the beautiful and historic natural surroundings.
Downtown Marana
Currently in the design stage, the Marana Town Center, much like the old-style downtowns, will allow for a mixture of uses ranging from commercial and residential to recreational and civic purposes. Apartments and office space will be constructed over local businesses, so that people will once again be able to walk to work, or to dinner or the local park.
Marana Regional Airport
Formerly known as the Avra Valley Airport, the Marana Regional Airport was purchased by the Town of Marana in 1999. The Marana Regional Airport serves as a general aviation reliever airport for the Tucson International Airport and has 2 runways – one of which is 6,900 feet in length. The airport is home to more than 300 based aircraft and had over 101,000 takeoffs and landings in 2006. Its annual economic impact on the community is estimated at more than $19 million.
Breakers Water Park
Breakers Water Park in Marana has Arizona's largest wave pool with 1.3 million gallons of water. There are several waterslides including the Bonzai Pipeline, Splash Canyon and Captain Kidd's Surfari for small children.
Evergreen Heritage Museum
The Evergreen Heritage Museum in Marana features aviation exhibits, including vintage aircraft from World War II.
